The Case of Jesse Munang - A Blind Young Man
Jesse Munang is a 28-year old congenital blind man. He graduated from the Bulu Blind Centre in Buea (Rehabilitation Institute for the Blind) in May 2009. There, he underwent a trade in handcraftsmanship. According to his records and from word from his teachers, he was a bright guy during the training.
He came to us for assistance so that he can start a petty business where his products could be sold to the public. We verified his background and realised that he lost his father at a very tender age and is the firstborn in the family. His mother is a peasant farmer.
For these reasons, our organisation decided to give him an assisting hand by buying the necessary material he needs to open a workshop and paid his rents for the shop for one year. We hope that with this benevolent gesture he could start up in life and to be of help to himself, his family and his community in the long run.
This all happened in July 2009 and according to word from our coordinator on the ground – Mr Akum Tumasang – he is making gradual progress. We wish Jesse all the best in his undertakings.
